A Day at the Theater: “Spider-Guy”

I haven’t been to live theater in years so I thought it was about time to try the local theater scene here in Tucson, Arizona. The Gaslight Theater presented “Spider-Guy,” a take-off on the “Spider-Man” hit movies. It was hilarious. The company of actors were from the local area and were superb. I don’t know how they managed to keep a straight face–well, they did most of the time. The songs were oldies, but goodies with new lyrics to keep it in line with theme. The play ended early so the last half-hour was filled with a rendition of the “Gong Show.” Once again, very funny and audience participation encouraged. The music was performed lived on stage with a three piece band.

The theater itself is quite small and every space was filled. Food and drink was also available. I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon although my throat is a little sore from singing with the band and laughing.

If you have a local theater in your area, you should check it out.
