Book Review: “A Divided Spy” by Charles Cumming

Thomas Kell left MI6 after the last operation when Rachel, a woman he loved, was killed. He didn’t recover, but found an opportunity for revenge. The man who executed his love has been spotted in Egypt in a compromising situation. Tom drops everything and heads to the Egyptian resort, but arrives too late. He follows up and heads to Belgium.

At the same time, a young Muslim man from Leeds takes on the vow of Jihad. He returns to England to execute his mission and heads to Brighton. He assimilates into the community and his plans are on track until he meets Rosie.

The author intertwines the two plots very nicely and brings them to a dramatic climax with twists and turns along the way. The author’s writing style is clear and easy to read as he tells an interesting story. The title selection was excellent. The book was published in 2017. Thriller fans will enjoy this one.
